SORL1 and Alzheimer's Disease

Localization of SORL1

SORL1 is expressed at highest levels in the brain although it is found in other parts of the body.  This is very intuitive given what we know concerning its role in amyloid precursor protein recycling and Alzheimer's Disease.  Specifically, SORL1 is abundant in cerebellum, cerebral cortex and occipital pole (1).  The ribbon structure of SORL1 seen above was generated using the Protein Data Bank.  Click here to see a rotating three dimensional version of SORL1.
